Today, people will argue till no end about whether or not music made by the likes of Soulja Boy and other artists such as himself is actually real "Hip Hop". A couple of years ago I've found myself in these endless debates. However, I've learned that life is a cycle. The 90's was mine, and it's obvious that the 2000's belongs to the new school. So I guess the music is still Hip Hop, just an evolved version of it. In reality, it's no different than me trying to push off 90's Hip Hop and having the older generation tell me that the 80's was real Hip Hop because they were all about community and respect. Opposed to rapping about drugs, guns, bling bling, cristal and hoes. Anyhow, this video is what I used to know in the Hip Hop world and still love. I'm only 24, but damn this video takes me back. I feel old : )

I can relate to needing music and...needing certain kinds of music. The truth is...for me...it can be so validating about life in general. I love world music. I love street musicians.
Last night I encounted at You Tube a video I could listen to forever.(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lgc5CGnjrtQ ) I watched the dances on RIZE so many times I lost count!Although I did not learn to actually do the dances I felt as if I could in my head!
I am surely a charter member of the Moulin Rougue(watching the movie) club! Ah life...changing every moment we are living it!
I agree with you. I like the 90's hip hop the best. I went threw a stange where I would only listen to hard rap and nothing else. So the music these days don't compare to the "real"rap from the 90's lol But now I'm very dirvers with all my music I listen to anything. I guess it comes with age. hope you have a good Christmas and Newyear :)
I like the 90's hip-hop.. Tribe and the rest.. even the late 80's were great in their own way. Tonight driving home form the store, i heard an old Slick Rick & Dougie Fresh track.. lol.. on the radio.. on the cheap-ass pop playin radio.. check it here. I had to turn it up and drive a lil slower to get the whole song in. Good stuff.
I am a lot older than you. But that is the same music that I remember growing up. There are plenty that I enjoy now, but there is something about music that touches from the past that makes life seem real.
I think Starbucks and any good Sushi bar are the greatest gifts from GOD!! I can listen to NWA's "F*** The Police" and follow it up with Bjork's angelic voice in "Venus As A Boy". I still own and play the original Nintendo and Super Nintendo. If anyone wants to get smashed in Madden 95", give me a call (Except for Russell! You cheat every time). With that said, this is the rest of me in a nutshell. Love movies, despise racism, great cook, love family, hate family, need music, wear deodorant, DC sneakers, clean cut, God exists.
I hear you!
